Comprehensive market assessment of the off-grid solar sector across 19 West African and Sahel countries, feeding into ROGEP financing instrument design.
The ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), with funding from the World Bank, launched the Regional Off-grid Electrification Project (ROGEP) focused on enhancing shared capacity and institutional knowledge within the ECOWAS region to increase electricity access to households, businesses and communities using modern off-grid electrification technologies by developing appropriate regulatory frameworks for the promotion of clean energy technologies and services. In 2018-2019, GreenMax led a comprehensive market assessment of the off-grid solar sector in 19 countries across West Africa and the Sahel. Based on the results of this analysis, we offered recommendations on design of the ROGEP financing instruments. The final ROGEP reports are accessible here.
